Wake Me
March 19th, 2008Wow, it’s been way too long since I’ve posted here! I’ve been getting pounded at work lately…
I was back home in Michigan a couple weekends ago, and wrote a song with my youngest sister on her 10th birthday. I’ve been wanting to post that here, but my music setup still isn’t pulled together (due to an incompatibility between my controller keyboard and my new computer). Also, a friend asked me for a chord chart for a couple of the songs I’d posted rough demos of here in February, and I’m way overdue on getting that done!
Anyway, I got to bed early this evening and then was woken up and ended up doing some writing. I thought I’d share that with you for now. :o)
Wake me in the night, Lord
Anytime You want
to speak my name
I love to spend my time with You
I love to spend the evening time with You
Wake me in the morning, Lord
Anytime You want
to speak my name
I love to spend my time with You
I love to spend the morning time with You
Wake me in the daylight, Lord
Anytime You want
to speak my name
I love to spend my time with You
I love to spend the afternoon with You
Cause I am always mostly sleeping
if it's not for hearing You
speak life into my heart
And I'd be barely breathing
if You didn't wake me up
I'm glad You woke me up
and always
wake me up
and always
wake me up, wake me up

Sweet song Jonathan. I really like the flow of the words; I look forward to hearing the demo!
(and it is sweet that you and your sister wrote this!)
Hopefully, I wasn’t the anonymous waker-upper…
Actually, Scott… the song I wrote with my sister is a different one… :o) It’s based off a scripture verse she memorized recently. Hopefully I’ll be able to share that soon.
“Wake Me” was from last night, and don’t worry… you didn’t wake me up! :o)
This is so beautiful Jonathan.
I’m really glad you like it, Abby! I like the idea there, but wan’t so happy with the way it worked out in that first draft… We’ll see, maybe it’ll grow on me! :o) I haven’t worked on music for that at all, but I suspect the words will change a bit once I do.
