Hi! Just looking around on your site, I had never found this area before. Happy to hear your songs from back in Feb! They sound great and I'm not just saying that. Recording is pretty amazing with what equipment you had to work with, it makes me think I should get a toy

Thanks for the comments, guys; good thoughts!!! For me, it's hard to find the personal balance between always wanting to find a way to make things even better and simply enjoying things as they are.

Great post, Jonathan! I hope there is a place for critique among friends. None of my friends are perfect, nor am I, and if there was no room for critique, there would be no room for growth. Or change. Or sanctification. Yuck! Imagine me being me forever. God help us if critique is over between friends! "Better

What a great post Jonathan! To answer, yes, I think there is absolutely a place for critique among friends. I greatly appreciate the friends who chose to be honest both when I've asked them to be and when I don't ask, but when they think it to be in my best interest--even if I don't necessarily

Welcome back - I've got miscellaneous change from all over the world saved in ziploc baggies and now I don't remember which country any of it is from. I just found out that all the currency I have from Romania (circa 2005) is worthless - they changed to new currency recently. I've been traveling a

It looks sort of like a Polish zloty http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_z%C5%82oty or, rather, what you get back in change from a zloty (groszy I think?) which I still have some of at home from when I went to Poland.

Got to this posting party a bit late.. I don't like how hard it is for me to play, but it is. I don't like that feeling that everything has to serve a function - sometimes even play feels like it has to do something. I guess if that's what it takes to get me to

As a keyboard player, my best creative times are when I sit down in front of the piano with no agenda, and just lay my hands on the keys and see what happens. 90% of the time, it's just for my own enjoyment, but some good songs have come out of it...

Creative pursuits...hmmm...I have recently begun to enjoy cooking - used to see it as a chore, now I see it as a chance to be lost in the wonder of creating something. It's all about the wonder and exploration for me - that also applies to worship leading, music writing, blogging - when you look

I am a vocalist (as well as freelance writer) and this made me think about how it is when I sing in front of the church. I think some of the play has been lost. I am very focused on having my voice last over 3 services, sometimes that's 14 or 15 songs

Every Sunday I act in skits at church. This past Sunday we did a skit in front of 300 people. It was all Ad-Lib. I was reminded again how much I love the fear and joy I get from doing this. It's one way I sharpen my creativity. When I

Hi Jonathan, I have not heard of this book - so thank you for the awesome suggestion. I primarily write non-fiction, but all writing must have every story element to it. I am sure this book will be good for everyone. I just bought "The Shack" based on your and Vicky's twitters.

Haven't read Story. I think I'll put it on my summer reading list. Sounds intense. My two favorite reads right now are Cold Tangerines by Shauna Niequist which I've read and re-read and actually blogged about recently and Crazy Love by Francis Chan. Love both books.

well, I think you said it pretty good, somewhere in between the self centered thought of wearing too much on the outside and keeping too much on the inside. I think its definitely based on weather or not its actually going to help someone to live better or not. We don't always have a choice
